Mirlo Gate Lodge Tower
The Mirlo Gate Lodge Tower is a unique home that was erected in 1926 at the entrance to the Palos Verdes Project on what is now known as Via Valmonte. Its address is 4420 Via Valmonte. This circular stone gatehouse is a unique structure to Palos Verdes Estates. It was designed by G.E. Howard and has walls that are eighteen inches thick. It was called the Mirlo Gate Lodge Tower since Via Mirlo was the former name of Via Valmonte. The gatehouse is small in size, but was built with a kitchen, living room, bathroom, and bedroom. The structure was owned by the Palos Verdes Project and rented out by them. In 1988 this structure was designated a historic landmark.
